“One Begets the Two.”
Yin and Yang has always astounded both the believers and nonbelievers of Feng shui but no one has ever written an exemptional explanation about the theory of Yin and Yang relationship than this website.
It was always expressed that YIN (dark) and YANG (light) is a philosophical conceptualization with a means to generalize the two extremes of the same process or quality, which may be observed in all related phenomena within the natural world. The yin/ yang symbol is ancient. It first appear in Chinese historical documents nearly three thousand years ago.
Therefore, yin and yang exist in relation to each other, both opposing and complementing. Through this, they have the ability to control each other and maintain a relative balance.
It is such an immensely flexible theory but at the same time a very simple tool that, once learnt, can be used to explain any number of phenomena.
Its qualities are but complementary and relative. It realizes life not as black and white, but a scale of different colours always changing, like the northern lights.

THE YIN / YANG SYMBOL
-
CIRCLE – wholeness and infinity of chi. No beginning nor ending. The outer cicle is the cosmos that contains the yang (light) and the yin (dark).
-
DIVIDING CURVED LINE – denotes constant movement of flowing of yin into yang and yang into yin. Signifying eternal motion of the combined elements.
-
OPPOSING DOT COLOR – this represents a small seed. Everthing contains both yin and yang.
-
EQUAL PROPORTION – the two colors are equally balances, therefore if there is more of , then there is less of.
THE RELATIONSHIP OF YIN AND YANG
Although we may see that yin and yang are of opposite direction and affinity, but they exist by virtue of each other. Things are yin and yang in relation to each other like dark and light, day and night, hot and cold, front and back.
In Science, this can reasonably be associated to the 3rd LAW OF MOTION stating that “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction”. But you have to understand that one can be a yin or yang in relation to a third. A good example of this is ” earth is yin in relation to heaven; earth is yin in relation tothe sun (hotter), earth is yang in relation to the moon (colder).

Very nice article. This is a very interesting subject, a perfect example of how something can be extremely simple, yet embody so many complex things simultaneously.
